What if you had the ability to not only slow down aging, but reverse it? Learn why this Harvard professor believes curing aging is possible and what he does every day to make it happen.

Reversing aging is an enticing prospect. Every one of us experiences aging on some level, and for most it is a process of deterioration. On top of that, the average lifespan continues to expand, which means more and more of us will live into our 80s, 90s, and beyond. The question is: how much will aging affect us in these later years?
“In my mind, there are few sins so egregious as extending life without health,” says Dr. David Sinclair, PhD and professor in Harvard Medical School’s Department of Genetics. “It does not matter if we can extend lifespans if we cannot extend healthspans to an equal extent. If we’re going to do the former, we have an absolute moral obligation to do the latter.”
In addition to his Harvard position, Dr. David Sinclair is also the co-director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for the Biology of Aging. He is a pioneer in the field of genetics and longevity and happens to be the author of the New York Times bestselling-book, Lifespan: Why We Age – And Why We Don’t Have To (Atria Books/Thorsons, 2019). In the book, Sinclair discusses his research into longevity and aging and what advancements we can expect to see in the not-too-distant future.
Through his research, Sinclair has come to believe that aging is a disease and - like any disease - it can be cured. “I believe we can treat [aging] within our lifetimes,” he says. “And in doing so, I believe, everything we know about human health will be fundamentally changed.”
This assertation, along with pioneering work in the field of epigenetic reprogramming to discover how the aging process can be slowed down and even reversed, has revolutionized the way Sinclair and other researchers look at aging.
As discussed in the post What Does NMN Do For the Body, nicotinamide mononucleotide - NMN for short - is a naturally-occurring molecule in the body and a direct precursor to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+), which helps protect your body’s cells from stress and assists with energy production.
Recent research has shown NMN to be the most stable, reliable, and efficient of the NAD+ precursors. Studies have also shown that supplementation with NMN may slow aging in a variety of tissues, and even has the potential to reverse declining cell function.
As to whether or not NMN really works, the proof is in the pudding…or rather, the yogurt. Sinclair, a leading authority in the field of slowing down and reversing the aging process, takes NMN daily himself. “I take 1 gram (1,000 mg) of NMN every morning,” he says in his book. “Along with 1 gram of resveratrol shaken into my homemade yogurt.” NMN is a highly bioavailable supplement when taken orally, and research shows dosages of 250-500 mg per day is safe and effective for healthy adults.
In addition to his supplement routine, Sinclair also utilizes several other biohacks in his anti-aging routine, including exercise, intermittent fasting, and exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
Although Sinclair has been careful not to back a specific brand of NMN, the fact that he takes it daily is quite the endorsement in itself. Sinclair has studied several compounds related to slowing down and reversing the effects of aging, yet NMN is the supplement he has chosen, and he takes it at a dosage that is four times the commonly studied dosage of 250mg. This suggests that not only does Sinclair believe NMN to be the most effective anti-aging supplement, but that he also considers it to be safe, even at higher than recommended doses.
He also believes that NMN works synergistically with resveratrol, although the latter is less easily absorbed by the gut. Combining synergistic ingredients is an ideal approach in supplementation and one used by BioStack Labs its product formulation. Biohacking supplements like Cell Shield and NAD Regen are formulated with proven ingredients that work well together to promote natural repair and regeneration within the body. As demonstrated by the Sinclair daily supplement regimen, consuming specific ingredients together in this way can boost the efficacy of each. It’s a research-backed approach to a problem that every one of us will face.
